These handmade beads were crafted by a women's cooperative enterprise based in New Delhi that empowers women through sustainable employment opportunities. Traditionally, women carry out small-scale textile crafting in small production clusters in their homes. This venture creates viable training and sustainable employment for hundreds of urban women – the model is an example of a self-sustaining society flourishing in a challenging urban environment. Each bead is handcrafted from leftover scraps of saree material. It tells the story of the modern woman, who takes the fragments of a broken story and rebuilds them into a thing of strength and beauty. 

 

These necklaces were donated to CHF. This means that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this piece goes towards the funding of our sewing program in Rajamundry India, empowering our women in creating small sustainable businesses to support their families and communities.
